To find out more about what we do for you click here to download our Your MTA leaflet. Machinery Manufacturers Section Manufacturers, to a substantial degree, in their own works in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland of new machine tools/manufacturing technology. In addition, companies owning the designs and controlling the manufacture of new machine tools/manufacturing technology to such a substantial degree that the Executive Council of the Association, as advised by the Manufacturers Committee, deem them to merit membership of the Machinery Manufacturers Section. A manufacturer is a company which, in the course of its operation, is able to demonstrate a substantial added value to its invoiced sales. The Executive Council would expect that such manufacture had been carried out for a minimum of two years in the UK and the invoiced sales of new machine tools/manufacturing technology over that period had at least reached the level of £500,000 per annum, of which no more than 25% related to service activities. Machinery Importers Section Companies and firms who are involved in the importation of new machine tools/manufacturing technology on a national basis from manufacturers established outside the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Membership will be open to companies and firms who are exclusive distributors of new machine tools/ manufacturing technology products established outside the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This definition includes subsidiaries of overseas companies who may either be acting only as a distributor for their parent or additionally as exclusive distributor for other overseas manufacturers. In addition, those acting as exclusive distributors and also, from time to time, as commission agents on a national basis are also prima facie eligible for membership. A commission agent is taken to be a company or firm that introduces an overseas manufacturer to a user in the United Kingdom and who receives a fee for this service. For UK applicants, acting on behalf of an overseas parent company or principal, subscriptions are to be calculated on the total annual sales turnover value of new machines/manufacturing technology products supplied into the UK by the parent company/principal, not solely the commission element. Applicants will be required to sign an "MTA Machinery Importers Code of Conduct" prior to, and as a condition of, acceptance by the Executive Council, into membership of the Association. The Executive Council would expect that such importation had been carried out for a minimum of two years in the UK and that the invoiced sales of new machine tools/ manufacturing technology products over that period had at least reached the level of £500,000 per annum, of which no more than 25% related to service activities. Equipment Suppliers Section Manufacturers, as defined above, to a substantial degree in their own works in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland of new equipment, or exclusive distributors as defined above, for manufacturers established overseas. The Executive Council would expect that such manufacture/importation had been carried out for a minimum of two years in the UK and the invoiced sales of new equipment over that period had at least reached the level of £250,000 per annum, of which no more than 50% related to service activities.
