Association structure

The MTA is run by its members and is governed by an Executive Council, which comprises elected representatives from member companies, equally weighted across the three sections of membership that a company may join.  Members of the Council are drawn from the Section Committees. To find out which section your company is eligible to join see Who we represent.

The Sections Committees feed their views into the Executive Council through their representatives, and the Council in turn makes policy decisions based on this input.  The Section Committees give companies the opportunity to discuss issues relevant to their particular section.  All meetings are held quarterly and the three sections come together following their individual meetings to discuss issues of common interest, which also provides networking opportunities for members.

As well as the Council and Section Committees, Standing Committees operate in technical, education and training and public affairs arenas to give members with specific areas of interest input into Association policy.

The Association also employs 19 full-time staff to carry out the decisions of the Council.
