Special Interest Groups

Manufacturing technologies is a broad title that encompasses many and varied activities, from machine tools to robotics, from CAD/CAM software to simulation programs, from advanced materials to the cutting tools needed to shape them. We are developing a number of special interest groups to address issues which these areas raise and regional seminars to introduce our members to new technologies and new services which might be of interest and use to them.

MTA / BHECTA Tooling Group

The purpose of the MTA/BHECTA Tooling Group Seminar is to bring together toolmakers with machine tool builders and equipment suppliers at a seminar which brings the attendees closer to new cutting tool technologies.

These new technologies influence the type, design and manufacture of cutting tools, the new materials which need to be cut and shaped, new requirements for machine tool design to best utilise new cutting tool technologies and disruptive technologies in the cutting tool world such as very-near netshape casting, laser joining and laser machining and so on.

The target audience is cutting tool manufacturers and equipment, materials and technology suppliers which either use cutting tool technology or are co-dependent on them. For this first meeting more than 80 target company representatives from the cutting tools and related equipment suppliers have been invited as well as machine tool builders and other equipment or service suppliers. We expect attendance to be in the range of 20-30 representatives from these arenas. It is an ideal networking arena.
