There are a variety of routes into the industry and whether you are a career changer, school leaver or graduate/postgraduate, engineering offers numerous rewarding career options suited to your skills.

Gone are the days of a dirty smoke stack industry, engineering is now a mainstay of the UK economy producing some of the worlds finest high precision and innovative engineering technology – everything from Formula 1 racing cars to aerospace. Apprenticeships – many MTA members run apprenticeship schemes and the Association supports the creation of more places for apprentices. As an apprentice in a manufacturing technology company you could find yourself solving practical problems, working on engineering projects and learning how to programme computer controlled manufacturing machines – known as CNC machines.
