Education

The MTA supports all aspects of education relating to engineering based manufacturing.

Members

For members we provide funding towards industry relevant training courses including continuing professional development and management courses. We are also working to improve the standard of industry relevant education available by assisting member companies to achieve accreditation for their in-house courses and liasing with Universities.

Funds are available to assist with training course costs, including Apprenticeships

MTA also offers a seminar programme for keeping members up-to-date with the latest developments in HR, finance and member services. Check the events pages here.

Parents/Teachers/Careers advisors

For those in education the MTA wishes to encourage greater interaction between students and teachers and the industry.

At primary school level, we support Imagineering Clubs and Fairs, which offer youngsters the opportunity to get 'hands-on' and begin understanding the concept of problem-solving through engineering. Visit the Imagineering website to set up a club at your school, or to volunteer your time to help run a club or activity.

MTA runs our own national competition for schools - the TDI Challenge; set up to celebrate innovative design technology projects. See the dedicated microsite here.

MTA is also encouraging members to offer educational opportunities to schools - you can request a company match in your area by completing the form here.

We run the UK's premier manufacturing event, the MACH exhibition (www.MACHexhibition.com). The exhibition features a dedicated Education & Training zone to enable those in D&T teaching posts to gather more information (and teaching resources) relating to manufacturing technologies and its modern everyday applications. The initiative invites youngsters, from 14 years of age, to attend the show to help them to understand what engineering-based manufacturing is all about.
