MTA Welcomes Bob Hunt as Association President
Published : October 27, 2008
The MTA formally elected Bob Hunt as the new President of the MTA at the Association's AGM on Thursday. Managing Director of Star Micronics GB Ltd, Bob takes over from Geoff Lloyd of Heller Machine Tools who for the last two years has ably led the Association, raising the MTA's profile with politicians and the media and improving the range and delivery of member services on offer. Bob commented that he is looking forward to the challenge, especially during these unpredictable economic times. He also assured members that he will continue the excellent work that Mr Lloyd has already started, namely boosting the MTA's membership, brand and political presence and of course working towards another successful MACH in 2010.
During his address to members Bob thanked past President Geoff Lloyd, “I would like to pay tribute to the energy and enthusiasm that has been demonstrated by my predecessor Geoff Lloyd over the last two years. He has, during his office introduced some exciting new initiatives for the Association and I will, with him and the Director General, Graham Dewhurst, develop those themes for the benefit of our membership during my period as President.”
He continued, “I am taking over the Presidency at an extremely uncertain time, both domestically and internationally. There are bound to be challenges for me, you the members and MTA. However I am confident that we are well placed to tackle those challenges and that we must keep looking forward to move forward. Finally, may I thank the members again for the trust they have put in me and to state publicly that I will not let them or our proud Association down.”
