The All Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group, of which the MTA is a member, has announced it will be holding a public session at the MTC in Coventry in the afternoon of 5th September. The story below has details of how you can attend, or how you can deliver your views via the MTA.

Sliding head lathe manufacturers Star GB will be holding its Autumn 2014 Open House event on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of October at the Company’s head office in Melbourne, Derbyshire.
During the event Star will showcase some of the latest innovations in sliding head technology to arrive in the UK. These include the ST-20, a 20mm triple turret sliding head lathe; the SW-12, a fast twin platen machine for efficient production of micro turned parts; and the versatile new SB-20 RG, with its modular platen design and ability to run with or without a guidebush.

Planning permission secured for £3m manufacturing facility

Planning permission secured for £3m manufacturing facility

MTA Member Filtermist International is pleased to announce that it has secured planning permission for a brand new production facility and global Head Office based at the new Telford 54 site.

The new building represents a £3m investment by Filtermist and has been designed to accommodate all aspects of the company’s operation. The approved plans include 848m₂of office space, and production, warehousing and dispatch facilities totaling 1918m₂.

Further to last week’s Notice about sanctions on Russia over the issue of the Crimea and Ukraine, the Export Control Organisation has issued a set of clarifications in the form a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ document. It covers a range of situations that could be thrown up by the imposition of sanctions and provides some clarification of the meaning of the Energy Industry related sanctions and on what is defined ‘technical assisstance’.

Event Highlights at EMTE-EASTPO 2014 Released

The first EMTE-EASTPO 2014 came to a successful close on 17 July, attracting a visitorship of 47,654. Local visitors from 32 cities made up majority of the participants. The biggest group of domestic visitors were from south-eastern China namely, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai and Zhejiang. Buyers from India, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia made up the majority of international visitors.

UK GDP, 2nd Quarter 2014:  The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has released an update to its estimate for the UK economy that left the growth rate of +0.8% compared to the previous quarter unchanged, but edged up the annualised rate to +3.2% (from +3.1% in the preliminary estimate).
