MTA sponsors Girl-Kart Grand Prix 2015

On Saturday 5 September 2015, teams of young women from across London will assemble for London Play’s Girl Kart Grand Prix sponsored by the MTA. Each team will each be given a pile of wood, wheels and some metal bits along with a few tools and will have four hours to build a go kart from scratch. Then, they will race!  

The MTA is proud to sponsor this event, which forms part of Play London’s wider go-kart programme. James Fudge, Skills and Communications Manager said “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Girl Kart event. We are always trying to find new ways to encourage young people into the industry and the work of London Play does exactly that. Following the success of the go-kart event last week the MTA is delighted to be supporting this initiative to encourage more women into engineering.”

London Play’s works with play providers in the voluntary, community, statutory and private sectors to support their efforts to increase play opportunities for children in London's 33 boroughs. They are directly involved provide more play opportunities through funded projects and work to raise the profile of play with politicians, decision makers, parents, schools and other bodies who work with or influence children and young people.
