As a UKTI Enhanced Accredited Trade Organisation, the MTA was invited to take part in their first Trade Challenge Partner Workshop on Tuesday at Westminster.
The morning featured keynote Speeches from Lord Green, Minster of State for Trade & Investment and Margot James MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Trade and Investment. The message to UK companies is clear; we should not fear exporting.
Lord Green noted that, in his experience of travelling to a number of key overseas countries, more people need to export from the UK and many countries would have a ‘welcome mat’ for UK manufacturers. Lord Green also emphasised that the UK shouldn’t be frightened of exporting.
The morning also covered a number of other topics including:
• Providing Digital Services
• Delivering Business Opportunities to Members
• The Government’s Industrial Strategy
• TAP funding
The MTA are pleased to inform members that TAP funding will be increased at all levels; notably first timers can get £3k from 1 August 2013. It was also noted there is support for overseas conferences, particularly speaking, but the general criteria still applies.
