Advanced Manufacturing is a dynamic, globalised, sector which is constantly evolving. Much of that evolution is as a consequence of technological change which is happening at a faster rate than ever before. Manufacturing Technology that change right across sectors and in companies of all sizes. The MTA exists to help its members transform the manufacturing world.

In April 2017 the first cohort of military veterans successfully completed their training and started work as part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) re: Start program (aws-restart.com). 

On September 1st 2017, Raconteur will publish a 16-page B2B report in The Times newspaper on Future of Manufacturing in association with MTA.

Earlier this week the MTA were represented at a meeting of a number of trade association and officials from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to discuss Brexit. The Government is looking for evidence on some of the technical challenges that would be posed to trade if/when the UK leaves the single market.

This year’s MTA Annual Golf Day took place at The Leicestershire Golf Club on Wednesday 5th July.

Citizen Machinery and Mollart came a close second to the winning team Star Micronics GB who took home the team trophy with a score of 82.

Carl Musticone’s of Mollart’s won the Best Individual score of 36 and David Whitworth of Citizen Machinery came a close second with a score of 33.

The Longest Drive award went to Ian Wilson of Sandvik.

Stars of the South West aerospace and defence sector were honoured at the WEAF Aerospace Ambassadors Awards celebration dinner at Bristol Museum this week.

Organised by West of England Aerospace Forum (WEAF), the inaugural awards celebrate the sector’s unsung heroes and shine a spotlight on their outstanding achievements. 

The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) helps manufacturers of any size to become more competitive by introducing advanced techniques, technologies and processes.

Bank of England’s Agents’ Summary of Business Conditions, 2nd Quarter 2017:  The latest report from the Bank of England’s Agents reflects a pick-up in manufacturing output;  in the domestic market, both the aerospace and automotive industries were highlighted as being among those with the fastest growth, as well as a note that “a very modest recovery in output for those in the oil & gas supply chain was in train”.
