UK Index of Production, February 2012:  The data for manufacturing output released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) will no doubt attract negative headlines as it shows a fall in output of -1.0% between January and February.  However, month-to-month data can be variable and we prefer to focus on the trends for 3-month periods;  this shows that manufacturing output for the latest 3 months (December 2011, January and February 2012) was +0.2% higher than in the previous 3 months (...

European Production Output, February 2012:  According to the latest data from Eurostat, industrial production (which includes energy, extraction and utilities as well as manufacturing) in the euro-zone was +0.5% higher than in January 2012, but -1.8% lower than a year earlier in February 2011.  For the Eu27 as a whole, the month-on-month growth rate was only +0.2%, but the comparison over 12 months was the same as for the euro-zone at +1.8%.

The old website was approaching its fourth birthday, pensionable in New Media terms, and increasingly showing its age.

The new site will be easier to navigate round and present a cleaner image of the MTA and our industry. Crucially it will provide a much better platform for Member companies to show off their products and services with, for the first time, the opportunity to upload brochures and videos to your section in the Directory – the most visited part of the site.

The events will focus on exporting to new markets, looking in particular at trade with Asia.  Country experts will be flown over to discuss the local market & economy, all with the aim to help grow trade and enhance investments flows between the UK and key exports markets in Asia.

At the time of writing, on Thursday evening, nearly half of the expected 5,000 tonnes of machinery had already been lifted into place on the floors. With some huge machines being shown this year the logistical challenge was immense, already 147 trucks have disgorged their cargo into the exhibition, without the mile long tail back they could have caused all on their own.
