The MTA and Cranfield University are teaming up again in 2017 to host an open conference to discuss a range of technology related issues, including future strategies and opportunities in development and collaboration, for the surface engineering industry and nanotechnology companies in the UK. In previous joint events, the conference has been attended by over 150 registered delegates and the quality of the event has been impressive with speakers from companies such as Siemens, Rolls-Royce, General Electric, BP, and AWE which have given this event an excellent reputation.
As I opened my BBC News App this morning to get the headlines, one story jumped straight off the page to me “CES 2017: UK support to tech firms 'an embarrassment'” (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-38469141).

Speaking today James Selka, The Manufacturing Technologies Association’s Chief Executive, commented:
“We welcome the growth in the economy that is evident this year. Advanced manufacturing has been in a position of strength for some time now, with the MTA’s own data showing that consumption of industrial tooling this year is likely to be some 10% above the levels achieved immediately before the Recession. That reflects widely recognised growth in the output of the aerospace and automotive industries but it is also evident across the wider advanced manufacturing landscape.
On Tuesday 2nd December the Manufacturing Technologies Association held their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Church House in Westminster London.
Attended by over 65 members the AGM included a review of the past year from MTA President Mark Ridgway OBE.
