This year the MTA’s Annual General Meeting will be held at London’s historic Commonwealth Club in Northumberland Avenue. The Club has been on the site since 1885, following an extensive renovation in 2000 the Commonwealth Club is now a vibrant blend of contemporary design and old fashioned comfort. Following the AGM, Members are invited to join us at the Club for a formal three course lunch.

The MTA’s MACH Exhibition celebrated its centenary and looked to the future at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), Coventry on 10 October. The event marked the 100th anniversary of the first show, the International Engineering & Machinery Exhibition in 1912 and highlighted the innovations in manufacturing technology that have been showcased over the years. The occasion also marked the launch of MACH 2014 which will be held at the NEC between 7-11 April.
The MTA’s Annual Forecast Seminar will take place this year on the 8th of November at Warwick Manufacturing Group’s International Digital Laboratory on the University of Warwick’s Campus, just outside Coventry. Once again the world renowned consultancy Oxford Economics will be producing the forecast, an unrivalled resource for business planning. Look out for details and information on further speakers in the next few weeks.
The MTA is pleased to annouce its Annual Golf Day for members and their guests will be held on Thursday 20th September at The Leicestershire Golf Club.
The day costs £240 for a team of four players.

2012 marks the 100th year of the MACH exhibition; the UK’s premier manufacturing show. To commemorate this landmark anniversary Members are invited to join us for a celebratory drinks reception at the Manufacturing Technology Centre, in Coventry on 10th October. Guests will have an opportunity to enjoy a tour of the centre, be entertained by our guest speaker and learn something of the history of the MACH event.

The Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) monthly members’ survey for February has revealed an increase in orders, inquiries and subsequently, confidence, compared to the results in January 2012, itself a strong month.
MTA President Simon Pollard used the speech to drive home the message that UK manufacturing is great and growing. He looked forward to a great MACH 2012 and said he believed that UK Manufacturing was well placed to take off with advantages in; technology, science and research, skills as well as progress in sight on issues like export finance and the Government’s attitude to the sector. He also highlighted the commitment to the sector of Lloyds TSB Commercial not least in their support of the night.
Visitors attending MACH will not only see the latest in metalcutting, forming and grinding that has long been at the heart of the exhibition but will also be able to experience emerging technologies and new processes from a host of world class companies. From additive manufacturing to industrial laser applications and advanced CAD/CAM to the latest developments in Metrology, MACH has it all.
