Apprenticeship Levy Transfers

The Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) has published new guidance to assist firms considering transferring part of their apprenticeship levy to, another company or a specific apprentice.  Up to 25% of a firm’s apprenticeship levy can be transferred in this way, including to other levy payers.

The guidance notes that the scheme means a commitment to support the full apprenticeship, from the start, and is therefore likely to span at least two levy years. The apprentice can be a new employee or an existing employee, provided he or she is a new apprentice start.

Some large companies have chosen to use part of their levy to support firms in a region, or sector, or individual suppliers. We would welcome feedback, especially if you anticipate using the scheme either as a levy donor or recipient.
