The Government announced this week that the UK has now associated with the EU Horizon Europe programme (but not Euratom).  This follows the intensified negotiations that have taken place following the acceptance of the Windsor Agreement.

  • From 7 September 2023, UK researchers can bid into Horizon programmes, with all successful UK applicants covered through the UK’s association (or through the guarantee) for the remainder of the programme.
  • All calls in Work Programme 2024 will be covered by association and the UK guarantee scheme will be extended to cover all calls under Work Programme 2023.

You should note that the negotiated terms also include an automatic “clawback” which allows the UK to be compensated should UK receive significantly less money than the UK puts into the programme.
