Invitation to Participate in a Surface Engineering and Advanced Coatings Summit

21st January 2019 at the MTC, Ansty Park, Coventry

Organised by the Surface Engineering Leadership Forum (SELF)

The Surface Engineering Leadership Forum (SELF) is working to support UK Materials and Manufacturing industries on the transformation journey to become world beating in the application of Industry 4.0 principles and tools.

SELF has been set up by organisations involved in surface engineering, advanced coatings and materials finishing, to promote the use of these technologies in industry, and to interface with government on developments, funding and business support. This followed an in-depth report produced by a Special Interest Group (SIG) looking at the future needs of the SEAC (Surface Engineering and Advanced Coatings) community, which reported to government and industry bodies in 2014. The SIG concluded that if SEAC technology in the UK is to be viewed as a future HVM (high value manufacturing) technology and thrive in increasingly competitive global markets, the sector must develop its capabilities to provide the service and confidence that customers are seeking. In addition, the research base, supply chain and end users need to be better integrated to incorporate the principles of design for manufacture and design for process excellence.

This personal invitation is for you to attend a one-day Summit to share your views, insights and experience as we seek to progress from an industry striving to be match-fit, through best in class and on to one excelling as world class by 2025. We know that increased knowledge and skills development are essential if this transformational change is to move forward, but how can this best be achieved?

The Summit will be held on 21st January 2019 at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), Ansty Park, Coventry CV7 9JU  (older sat-nav systems may need to use CV7 9RD). Directions at Please arrive by 10.30 for an 11.00 start. We aim to conclude proceedings by 15.30.
