This week saw the MTA AGM take place on Tuesday 3rd December at Cutlers’ Hall Sheffield.
The event was attended by a number of MTA members and this year featured three presentations on the theme of business improvement as well as a small table top exhibition from some of our associate members.
Margaret Wood MBE, Chairman of Industrial & Commercial Windows (ICW UK Ltd) described how she set up her business which now sends its designs overseas and around the UK and are used by mission critical industries. Dr Bryan Allcock, Group CEO of TRL9 Limited told attendees about the Queen Elizabeth Class of aircraft carriers (the largest surface warships ever constructed for the Royal Navy) and how digital manufacturing and cyber physical connectivity through the Industrial Internet of Things played a crucial role in maintaining the ships’ operability and the important processes involved in creating the Carrier Deck. Finally, Christopher Jewitt, Chairman of Footprint Sheffield described how they installed a robot to improve overall productivity without loss of quality. The talk explained how that was achieved with the support of the AMRC and an initially sceptical workforce.
A big thank you to all who attend!
