We are delighted to confirm we have two excellent speakers for this year’s AGM, Lunch and House of Commons Reception.
Our AGM speaker will be Professor Sam Turner, Chief Technology Officer at the High Value Manufacturing Catapult. Sam leads the development of the HVM Catapult Technical Strategy and sets the agenda for the HVM Catapult CTO community. Sam joined the HVM Catapult core team from his role as CTO for the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, one of the centres within the HVM Catapult. Sam has a wealth of manufacturing technology experience and of building strong relationships between academic institutions and industry.
The MTA has also secured Professor Anand Menon, who leads the Centre for the UK in a Changing Europe and is one of Britain’s leading authorities on Brexit, to speak at our AGM Lunch. ‘The UK in a Changing Europe’ is a major initiative which is studying and analysing Brexit, as it happens. With over 25 research groups based across the country – and unrivalled access to the political players on both sides of the channel - it is conducting research to inform decision makers and the public in real time as well as setting down the first draft of the history of these times. Rigorously independent and impartial the Centre is respected across the spectrum of opinion. You can see Professor Anand in action here in his latest video on the countdown to Brexit http://ukandeu.ac.uk/multimedia/countdown-to-brexit/.
As with previous AGMs this year's will once again be held in conjunction with a Reception at the House of Commons. The Reception offers an unrivalled chance to speak with key sector MPs as well as network with others from the industry.
*The AGM and House of Commons Reception are free for members to attend, although registration is necessary. Please note, there is a charge for the lunch and keynote speaker.
