NEW WORK ITEM PROPOSAL FOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

Please be advised that a New Work Item Proposal has been loaded to the BSI Standards Development Portal for comment.  We hope this will assist in increasing awareness of the Standards Development Portfolio.  Any comments received will be submitted to AMT/8 - Additive Manufacturing for consideration when deciding the UK response to ISO.

Proposal: ISO/ASTM PWI 52908 Additive manufacturing - Post-processing methods - Quality assurance and post processing of powder bed fusion of metallic parts.  Please visit http://standardsdevelopment.bsigroup.com/projects/9020-04759 for more details.

This standard sets requirements for the qualification, quality assurance and post processing for metal parts made by laser powder bed fusion and it is designed to complement the standard ISO/ASTM 52900, which describes different additive manufacturing processes using a variety of materials.  The quality of additively manufactured components is essential if functional components are produced on an industrial scale.  Thus, it is necessary to qualify additive manufacturing processes according to uniform criteria and to apply standardized in-process and post-process testing.

The end date for the comments period is 30th November 2020.  If you have any comments or need more information, please contact Sami Ortiz at MTA (email:  sami.ortiz@mta.org.uk).
