MANUAL HANDLING (PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES (LEVEL 2))

Who should attend: The risks arising from manual handling have been recognised by the Health and Safety Executive for many years, as evidenced in their regulations and advisory activities promoting good practice. The Regulations require employers to provide their employees with health and safety information and training – supplemented, as necessary, with more specific information and training on manual handling injury risks and prevention. FIRE SAFETY (LEVEL 2)

Who should attend: You will, no doubt, be aware of the potentially devastating effects of fires in the workplace in terms of lives lost, injuries, damage to property and the environment, and to business continuity. You may also be aware that It is believed that most fires are preventable. The importance of fire safety in the workplace is underpinned by health and safety legislation that places a duty on employers to establish policies and procedures and ensure their employees receive appropriate training. 

This course is designed for employees who want to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.) Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 2 qualification.

FIRST AID RISK ASSESSMENT (PRINCIPLES & PRACTICES (LEVEL 2)

Who should attend: The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and trained personnel, to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. 

What is ‘adequate and appropriate’ will depend on the circumstances in the workplace. This includes whether trained First Aiders are needed, what should be included in a First Aid box and if a First Aid room is required. 

To produce a Risk Assessment of First Aid Needs, consideration of workplace hazards and risks, the size of the organisation and other relevant factors need to be considered in order to determine what First Aid equipment, facilities and trained personnel should be provided. 

This course will provide detailed information about the considerations and relevant factors to determine the needs and requirements and to ultimately produce a Risk Assessment of First Aid Needs for the business.

CATASTROPHIC BLEED MANAGEMENT 

Who should attend: Developed and based on the military medics one-day Battlefield Casualty Drills Course the Catastrophic Bleed Management Course is aimed at teaching people how to provide life – saving treatment before the arrival of the emergency services in the event of an incident. 

While many people know how to react to a medical emergency such as a heart attack and asthma attack, a different approach is needed to act effectively after a catastrophic injury. 

This course can also be used for workers in remote areas where definitive medical care is not minutes away but hours. 

The course instructs delegates in the use of first care dressings, haemostatic dressings, CAT Tourniquets and how to improvise dressings from what you have around you when no first aid equipment is available. 

The course is designed for either security staff working in the UK or in hostile environments, forest workers, arborists, construction & manufacturing, expedition leaders and companies who feel their staff would benefit from this type of training.

  • SAFETAC / METHANE/MIST Reports for calling in a medical emergency.

USE OF AN AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR 

Who should attend: Heart and circulatory disease claims around 200,000 lives each year. Many could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available. Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) are now becoming more common throughout a range of public and work places. A casualty’s survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and if you have.

Emergency First Aid at Work (Level 3)

Who should attend: Where an organisation’s risk assessment of First Aid needs identifies that there is a requirement for Emergency First Aid at Work practitioners, then this national Award in Emergency First Aid at Work satisfies the requirements of the regulatory body for First Aid – the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Practical Industrial Electrical

Who should attend:  

Whilst there are no pre-requisites for this course it is expected that delegates will have some mechanical engineering experience and will have worked around basic domestic or industrial electrical systems. 

Course Outcomes: The days of one man one job in industry are now long gone and there is a strong need to have maintenance engineers that are capable of many diverse skills.  As there is a heavy reliance of electrically powered machinery and systems it is essential that maintenance engineers and technicians have a good, basic understanding of electrical theory and regulations as well as the practical skill essential to carry out electrical work safely in a work environment.

Mechanical Maintenance Training

There are no pre-requisites for this course 

Course Outcomes: This four-day course at MAKE UK Technology Hub in Aston, Birmingham splits between theory lessons and interlinked practical sessions introducing delegates to basic engineering and fitting techniques while at the same time learning the theory behind them. 

The course also introduces delegates to basic fault-finding techniques, health and safety and control of substances hazardous to health regulations as well and an introduction to how maintenance organisations are organised and operated. 

The final day culminates with a practical assessment that brings many of the elements learned throughout the course together allowing both staff and students to see how much progress is made.
