Over thirty members came together at DMG/Mori Seiki’s Technology Centre on 19 June for the second MTA Members’ Quarterly Meeting (MQM). The theme of the morning was “Managing Large Contracts”, and the well attended event saw various presentations focusing on key aspects of dealing with OEM businesses, both as a supplier, and as a customer.
Steve Finn, Managing Director of DMG/Mori Seiki UK, outlined his personal views of the traps to be aware of when negotiating Non-Disclosure Agreements, and the key ingredients to achieve a balanced and fair result for both parties. Phil Sholl shared his experience in defining good specifications to support a successful process of negotiating contracts.
Following these presentations members were able to share their own experiences on managing contracts and the interactive voting system provided some interesting results. Over three quarters of the audience had experienced the issues discussed by Steve and Phil. Equally as telling was that around half the audience had actually walked away from business due to the difficulties encountered. Finally, members voted the MQM an outstanding success.
The presentations from 19 June are now available to view within the Members Area of the MTA website. The next Members’ Quarterly Meeting will be on 25 September.
