The TX range of grooving inserts from WNT (UK) offer several distinct advantages over other grooving systems, with performance and price being key among them.
With three cutting edges the TX series of grooving inserts from WNT (UK) are providing a cost-effective alternative to the more traditional double-ended inserts, and with their positive and ground cutting geometries produce a very soft cutting action, with low cutting forces.
The design of the inserts and toolholders makes them ideally suited for a range of applications, including parting, grooving, face grooving and light turning. These uses are optimised by the availability of toolholders with either 45 degree or 90 degree approaches, with shank sizes ranging from 12 mm to 32 mm square. TX inserts are available in a range of widths from 0.5 mm through to 5.15 mm, including a range dedicated to circlip grooves complying to DIN471/472.
The inserts performance is enhanced with the addition of CWX 500 TiAlN multi-layer coating, which has been transferred from the highly successful TX series of side and face milling cutters. The coating works extremely well with the fine grain carbide substrate and provides high thermal and chemical stability, low coefficient of friction, while at the same time being suitable for universal application on most materials and under dry machining conditions.
“We are getting some extremely positive feedback from customers using the TX series,” say Adrian Fitts, Business Development Manager, WNT (UK). “The three cutting edges on each insert gives a price advantage, while the design and manufacture of the cutting edge itself is generating productivity gains. By grinding the inserts we are creating an extremely sharp edge that is helping optimise the cutting performance, produce better surface finish and increased tool life.”
