The MTA looks to promote engineering and manufacturing as a career of choice to the next generation of talent. This is to ensure our members have a continual pipeline of young people seeking careers in this vital sector. We do this through our work in four specific areas:

MTA Education and Development (E&D) Committee

The MTA E&D Committee provides input into the following:

  • Oversight and approval of any Apprentice Grant and/or Loan and Training Grant applications.
  • Oversight and input to the MACH E&D Zone.
  • Judging the entries of the annual MTA TDI Challenge.
  • Providing guidance on the direction the MTA should be taking with regards to our E&D work.

The committee meets quarterly in locations around the UK, with minutes being produced following each meeting. Membership of the committee is open to all MTA members.

Communication Skills for Service Engineers

The MTA, in partnership with E3 Leadership Learning, will deliver a two-day interactive workshop. The course offers a highly interactive training approach which is designed to encourage high levels of contribution and open exchange between participants. Theory sessions are supported by practical activities and discussion to highlight critical learning points. Participants are encouraged to reflect on key learning points and capture them in a “my coaching agenda” log. Each participant will produce a personal smart action plan to help transfer learning into practice and results.
