Scope
This standard applies to non-woven abrasive discs with backing plates, including flap discs, unitized discs, and general-purpose discs, all made from non-woven web with abrasive grains. It sets out safety requirements to reduce or remove risks linked to their design and use. It also includes test methods to check compliance and safety information that manufacturers must provide to users.
Purpose
The aim of this standard is to give manufacturers, suppliers, and importers clear guidance to ensure these non-woven abrasive products meet essential safety requirements under EU regulations. It helps identify and reduce specific risks, ensures products are properly tested, and provides users with the safety information they need. This will improve product safety, support regulatory compliance, and help prevent accidents when these products are used in grinding operations.
