Amelia Reeves: Apprentice Success Story at NEIDA

Journey to Business Administration Expertise

Amelia Reeves joined NEIDA in April 2023, eager to develop her knowledge through a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. Having previously completed an A-level in Engineering at The JCB Academy, she was determined to broaden her expertise in business administration. NEIDA’s 12 to 18-month Level 3 Business Administration Advanced Apprenticeship, delivered by Newcastle College, provided the perfect opportunity for Amelia to build her skillset while gaining hands-on experience in a thriving business. Her enthusiasm quickly made her a valued team member, excelling in a diverse commercial assistant role that included reception, event planning, and sales administration.

“I chose an apprenticeship to gain the fundamental skills and knowledge to work in the business and engineering industry,” Amelia states.

“This apprenticeship also gave me the confidence to develop my communication and decision-making skills. I’ve learned a lot about NEIDA’s policies and processes and how to apply them effectively in my role. It’s been a fantastic journey.”

Amelia demonstrated exceptional professionalism and commitment, adeptly managing client quotations and providing invaluable administrative support. Her strong time management skills allowed her to handle diverse workloads efficiently. Her extensive IT knowledge, including proficiency in custom systems, ensured high-quality work and contributed to efficiency improvements, always maintaining strict customer confidentiality and secure data handling. Beyond her core duties, Amelia proactively completed first aid and fire marshal training, showcasing her dedication to personal and professional growth.

The Value of Mentorship in Apprenticeships

Mentorship at NEIDA played a pivotal role in Amelia’s success, guiding her through challenging situations and helping her develop essential skills like professionalism, communication, problem-solving, and organisation.

“My mentors have been amazing. They’ve guided me through challenging situations and helped me develop essential skills like professionalism, communication, and organisation,” Amelia shares.

Her experience also extended to the factory, providing a well-rounded understanding of NEIDA’s operations that enhanced her client communication.

Amelia’s contributions went beyond expectations. She played an instrumental role in organizing career events, creating a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and checklist to streamline future initiatives. She also excelled in client relationship management, successfully growing leads into client accounts and conducting market research to identify new business opportunities. Her ability to interact at a senior business level, tailor communications, and collaborate with and coach colleagues further highlights her impact.
