What is the Young Engineer of the Year?
KMF’s Young Engineer of the Year is a local competition that has reached more than 25,000 students, worked with over 60 sponsor organisations and invested over £1M in encouraging students into STEM subjects, inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers. The competition also leaves a legacy product with their schools for them to continue working on.
The latest YEOTY competition is a two year project involving Primary Schools as well as Secondary Schools. Neida will support students at St Joseph’s College to design and build a Greenpower Electric Car. The team of students will race against each other, first at Mallory Park in 2024 and then in August 2025 around the streets of Stoke on Trent.
NEIDA will once again be sponsoring St Joseph’s College in Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent for the Young Engineer of the Year competition. For the eighth consecutive year, the team at NEIDA will provide mentoring support to the students in hopes of winning the award for 2024.
Why Get Involved?
The Young Engineer of the Year project is about providing the next generation with the skills needed by industry, the project addresses the STEM skills gap and opens up career paths for students within our local area. There will be specific milestones throughout the process that nurture and develop these skills.
