Proposal: ISO/NP 22166-303 – Robotics — Modularity for service robots — Part 303: Perception modules

Comment period end date:17/11/2025

Scope
This document sets out guidelines for “perception modules” in service robots – the parts that help robots gather and process information using sensors and software. It explains how these modules should connect, share data, and work together, so they can be more easily integrated into different robots.

Purpose
The goal is to make perception modules easier to design, share, and reuse, so robot developers and manufacturers can build smarter robots faster. This will support interoperability, lower costs, and help the service robot market grow, while giving users robots that are better suited to their needs.
