The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Regulation (EU) 2025/40 will begin to apply from 12 August 2026, with many detailed requirements phased in towards 2030 and beyond. It covers virtually all packaging placed on the EU market, including imported, industrial and transport packaging.
The EU PPWR introduces stricter rules to reduce packaging waste, improve recyclability and increase reuse across the EU. For advanced manufacturers, this means better control of transport packaging, clearer supplier responsibilities, improved packaging data and documentation, and possible redesign of crates, pallets, plastics and protective materials.
