This week the MTA were proud to support the National Transition Event (NTE) which brings together service leavers, veterans and families with employers to help aid successful and sustainable transfers into the civilian employment sector. Monday’s event was the largest Armed Forces transition event that has ever taken place in the UK.

The day was hosted by Mission Communities which having launched successful initiatives to help channel Armed Forces talent into the Automotive and Renewable Energy sectors now has its sights set on Manufacturing & Advanced Engineering. The exhibition was visited by both the Rt Hon Dame

Andrea Leadsom MP and Rt Hon Johnny Mercer MP who toured the event to speak with some of the 180 exhibitors and 1200 registrants.

James Selka participated in a key panel discussion on how the Armed Forces Community can be a key strategic asset in the UK’s economic growth along with Tony Mather, CIO, AWE and representatives from Renewables UK and Venterra. James’ message on the day was “The MTA sees the value in supporting engagement with the Armed Forces Community. There is a sound business case in assisting our members to set up forces-friendly mechanisms that will enable them to access, attract and retain the skills that Armed Forces employees can offer, driving growth and development for both parties.”

Alongside the exhibition and presentations the Mission Motorsport was also running one of its famous track days to aid engagement and provide some high-speed thrills for attendees – over 100 supercars were offering passenger rides around the GP circuit (visit the official Mission Motorsport photo album to see cars in action). One of the Army Motorsport Team was volunteering on the day and Nicola got the opportunity to take a passenger ride around the track – which is probably the only ten minutes since January she hasn’t been focused on preparations for MACH! The NTE is a yearly event and for March 2025 the MTA will be working with Mission Communities to form a ‘Manufacturing & Engineering’ Hall, we will be sending out more information before the end of the year with details of how you can get involved with everything from exhibiting to volunteering to speaking so watch this space!
